Big Grin  Introduce yourself!

Every forum I go on there seems to be one of these threads, I though why not here? It helps everyone to feel familliar with each other.
Don't feel pressured into it though. Tongue

Anyway, I'm Ty, (pronounced, "tie". Some people think it's "Tee Why" because of the net lingo for "Thank-You" - it's not.) I use the hyphens 'cause the system wouldn't recognise a two-character name.
My real name however is Peter. I'm a 20 year-old New Zealander and do Law and Political Science at Victoria University of Wellington. I've been playing guitar for six years and mainly play my Maton Em325c and love it.

I frequent a couple of other forums, one of which is my friend's one, another is Bf2s.com where I am a staff member and the last I frequent is the Shihad, (my favourite bogan rock band,) forum. I'm Ty there too.

(Counting down to when someone writes "I'm X and I'm an alcoholic...")

RE: Introduce yourself!

Howdy!

My name is Stevie Bell, I'm 24 years old and hail from Glasgow, Scotland!

I've been playing guitar for almost eleven years now and currently blast out some chunky riffs and bluesy solos with old school metal titans Attica Rage.

Metal may be my passion, but classic rock was my first love and for the past few years all I've listened to is acoustic and instrumental stuff.

That's about it Smile

Back to the old school...

RE: Introduce yourself!

I'm Jeff Titus. I have a bio on my site harpsympitar.com that can fill you in on the details of my life, but a summary related to guitar would be 30+ years playing. I am very fortunate to play on stage and record with Michael Manring (we are playing a few shows this summer and he appears on Just A Position on Wood Dragon). I sometimes "TA" at Alex de Grassi's Summer Guitar Workshop (highly recommended for intermediate players!) where I tend to show students how to play tap notes on acoustic and some other percussive techniques... plus I eat all the good food that Alex's wife Alison makes.

I am a huge fan of Michael Hedges and have worked very hard to establish my own "style", mostly through composition, although extended techniques are an important part of that palette. When Michael died in a car crash in '97 it inspired me to have Fred Carlson (beyondthetrees.com) create the Oracle Harp Sympitar you see in my profile pic in dedication to Michael's memory.

Andy and I met at the annual Harp Guitar Gathering where I was a speaker/performer. He's pretty much one of the nicest people around, as you all can see from his responses here on the forum.

I like to help others in any way I can and I have found that there is ALWAYS something new to learn about guitar playing. Music is the most obvious example that magic is possible for us all.

Thanks to everyone that participates on Andy's forum! Thanks to Andy for creating this and for promoting acoustic guitar in general.

RE: Introduce yourself!

Hey guys, I'm Mike, and I'm a 16 year old student from Burlington, Ontario. I've been playing piano since I was a wee lad of 6, but in January '06 I heard Don Ross play his tune "Wave From your Window" on "Gzowski in Conversation" and my musical horizons completely changed. I've been playing guitar for about a year and a half now, having launched myself into the realm of fingerstyle guitar. I'm certified in Grade II theory rudiments with the royal conservatory system, but I recently realized that I've got to have this stuff down so cold, I've got to speak it like English, so I'm pushing my face right into the grindstone regarding music theory. Compositionally, I'm in a rut. I can't seem to produce anything that I'm happy with at all, so I've chalked it all up to not being technically proficient, theoretically well versed, and not sitting and straight up listening to different musical genres. So I'm on hiatus as far as songwriting goes, until I know what I'm doing.

Other things I enjoy include Theatre, Video Games, The Colbert Report, Hand Whistling, Wikipedia and Improvisational comedy.

This one seems to be the only forum I frequent, really. I guess it's nice to just be a part of a community where everyone is intelligent, helpful and respectful.

RE: Introduce yourself!

Hi I'm Daniel and I'm an alcohol (You got to 6 TY...(I didn't even write out alcoholic, I really am an alcoholic))

I enjoy longs walks on the beach and cracking really lame jokes as often as possible.

Anywho, I am Daniel, been playing guitar since I was 13, now 16. Basically fell in love with acoustic music when my grandparents took me to a tommy emmanuel gig many years ago. Unfortunately I didn't really understand what was going on and I havn't seen him since Sad

I am trying to start writing some pieces but, you all know how ludicrously hard it is to write something your happy with. Unless your an alien like Andy (Because he has a hovercar) or a robot like Don Ross... (Topical humour YES!)

Peace and good playing.
P.S. I would love to see you play some time Jeff, harp guitars are always really enjoyable. Hurry up and come to Australia! Then message me!! Big Grin

RE: Introduce yourself!

Hi,

I'm Omer. I'm living in Turkey. My guitar career Smile began when I was 12 and now I'm 23. I have a Takamine, Ovation acoustics and also a Gibson Les Paul and Epiphone Les Paul.

When I was in high school I had been playing guitar 6 or more hours in a day but after enter university unfortunately it decreased a lot. Now I'm looking for something to motivate myself to began playing guitar again. By the way, I found Andy on Youtube while I was searching for a finger style guitarist and when I heard Andy, I realized that he is the best.

Best wishes to all
