RE: What kind of strings
I think Andy exclusively uses Dean Markly Alchemy Bronze 13s.

Yeah, Dean Markley Alchemy. Gold/Bronze Medium Gauge (13's).
The old forum was having some serious technical issues. I was hoping we could import all of the old threads but it was impossible.

Most mediums will work.. I used D'Addario EXP Phosphor Bronze Mediums and I was fine tuning up that high. I just moved to their mediums.. I may try Alchemy like him though.
Plus, D'Addario has "Player Points" where you get stuff like shirts, cups, hats for buying their strings.

RE: What kind of strings
I've been using Elixir Nanowebs recently - brilliant strings IMO

Yeah me too.
I've just had a set of 12s and they really do last for ages, best sound I've found so far. And you can't seem to get Dean Markleys in England .
I wanted to get 13s next but much to my disgust, I have a recital exam in less than a month. So I don't want to get loads of blisters! I'll just have to fork out more cash!

I was about to say the same thing about Elixir (cause I use them): last a lot and have the best sound. They are affordable and good.

RE: What kind of strings
I disagree about elixirs. I tried a set and had a string break within a week. With the alchemys, i dont get any breakage before the time comes when i reasonably should swap em off.

A string broke within a week! that's pretty strange, I play my guitar for a few hours a day and am constantly changing the tunings and generaly giving the guitar a hard time and Elixirs have taken the abuse I give them far better than any other string i've tried!
I used to use Martin XP and found that they were pretty good in that they sounded great at first, but they seemed to loose their 'brightness' after a week or so.
